September 5, 2013: Donald Featherstone, 1918-2013
Donald Featherstone is considered one of the godfathers of wargaming. Born in 1918, he wrote more than 40 books on wargaming and military history (you can find some of them on Amazon), and is considered by many to be the creator of the saving throw. This piece he wrote for War Games Digest is particularly poignant, both because he staunchly defends the idea that wargames ought to be fun and because it demonstrates that gamers haven't changed all that much since his time. Donald Featherstone died at the age of 95. Rest in peace, Donald. -- Brian Engard Share this post! |
